The Association of Film & Video Editors (AFVE) settles disputes between members and producers through various means, including amicably, mediation, or arbitration.

Arbitration & Mediation

• In a non-payment complaint by the member against the producer, the AFVE Dispute Committee takes the initiative to resolve the issue with the producer amicably through mediation or arbitration.
• Sometimes, the AFVE dispute committee team meets with the producer to resolve the issue amicably.
• The AFVE team, as per the member’s complaint, reviews the contract and negotiates the applicable wages with the producers or their representatives to ensure fair resolution.

Dispute Resolution & Process

• AFVE uses a combination of negotiation, mediation, and/or arbitration as needed to settle the dispute, prioritizing efficient and fair resolution.
• The AFVE dispute team has expertise and knowledge of the Film & Media industry, ensuring the settlement of dispute issues.

Else/Escalation

• Sometimes, if the cases are not resolved at AFVE in view of non-cooperation from producers, then it is forwarded to the Federation, where the producers have to be constrained to settle the issue.

Project Registration

• It is mandatory to register the project, such as a Film, a Web Series, a TV Serial, etc., at the Association before starting the work by filling the Project registration form given below. Without registration, the Association will not accept any dispute case.
